Board Meeting Schedule

The board meets 1x/month as a group usually on the 3rd Thursday of the month at Town Toyota Center.  Zoom is available if someone cannot attend in person.  Board members hold their position for 2 years.

The board's main job is to manage the money that comes in and vote on how/where it should be spent.  Any money spent by the figure skating club has to be approved by the board.  Most money is used to put on clinics, for the holiday shows, competitions, etc.  The board also determines pricing for the show tickets, clinics, and other events.  Competition pricing is set by the USFS.

The board is made up of parents who want to put in the time and effort so that the club's activities are carried out to the best of their abilities.  

The board meetings are open to any members who want to attend, unless it is a closed session which is rare.  This is the place to get the most info and be able to volunteer for jobs.

Although the board members are the only ones who can vote on money expenditures, most jobs can be completed by anyone who is willing.   There are individuals and subcommittees that plan the clinics, shows, and competitions.  Once a clinic or show is approved by the board (since they cost money), anyone can lead or help with the planning.  The subcommittees or individuals that manage the details of events will meet separately, and give updates during the monthly board meeting, or as needed.   For example, there is currently a subcommittee for organizing the Apple Ice Classic, which is made up of 2 board members (Vicki and Steve), and 2 non-board members (Miho and Marcia).  

If you’d like to start learning how the WFSC works, but you don’t feel like you can commit to being a board member, this is a great way to get involved.
